'Quick and easy', this is how to organize a chess tournament with TournamentService:
Preparations:
To start the work with a new tournament,
select File and Create a new tournament.
You can either start with a "blank" tournament or use one of the
predefined templates. Fill in all neccessary information in the Tournament
Options screen that appears.
If your tournament is to be played i several separate groups,
it's recommended to define these in this screen now.
(For team events:) Register the teams in the team
view by clicking NEW and enter the team name and captain's name.
(Internet publishing:) If you want online signup, click "Internet" - "Publish to the internet" and check one of the options for "Yes, ..." under publishing, then "Yes, please" under online signup. Lastly, click "Update..." and OK.
Additionally, you may register players manually in the main window by clicking
NEW in the correct group-window and fill in all necessary fields. Or,
retrieve the player's info from one of the member
lists. This registration process can of course be started well in
advance of the event, registering players as soon as they sign up for the
tournament.
Continue until all players are registered. From time to time, press the shortcut Ctrl-P (or click "Internet..." - "Publish...") to fetch any new online signups.
Startup:
(For team events:) Set up the board-ordering and stand-by team
members in the team view.
Select File - Save tournament to
save your work. Do this often!
(Internet publishing:) If you didn't select "Publish everytime I save", Press Ctrl-P and "update" now, to make the pairings public.
Start the play in this group according to the pairing
you just performed.
Repeat this startup procedure for all groups in the tournament.
During play:
As the individual games are finished, enter the results by
clicking the result field, and select the correct result from the menu.
Select reports and print all the reports you
want from this round (standing etc).
Select File - Save tournament to
update the file with the results you entered.
(Internet publishing:) If you didn't select "Publish everytime I save", Press Ctrl-P and "update" now, to make the results public.
(Game publishing:) In the publishing screen, click "Publish pgn games", "Create/update PGN game files". Then, select the file(s) and click "Open/edit PGN game file" to enter the moves.
(For team event:) In the team view, update the availabel/unavailable status to enable paring of any team reserves.
When all results from this round is entered, select pairing
again, and so on until the tournament is finished.
Finishing:
If the tournament is to be rated locally or internationally, or be part of
some Grand Prix, you can deliver all neccessary information by selecting
"Internet" - "Send
ratingreport to national federation".
